First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Wednesday Russia urges Uzbekistan to enrich its uranium in the Russian territory.
"Russia proceeding from pragmatism and the need of commercial benefit for Uzbekistan made several proposals to the latter, including those pertaining to enrichment of Uzbekistan’s uranium in our territory. The international uranium enrichment centre in Angarsk is one of the places for this," he said.
He recalled that a number of countries "have already joined the centre".
Ivanov expressed confidence that "Uzbekistan’s commercial benefit will be much higher than that from raw uranium sales as enriched uranium has higher added value."
