Meeting held in the Senate with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 May 2025, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a meeting with the European Union's Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais.
The parties discussed prospects for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, including expanding dialogue between the Senate of Uzbekistan and the European Parliament, as well as exchanging experiences and information on pressing regional and global issues. The importance of continuing constructive cooperation and deepening political dialogue was emphasized.
Particular attention was given to the results of the first "Central Asia — European Union" summit, which took place in Samarkand, marking a significant step in strengthening mutual trust and stable partnership between the regions. A high evaluation was also given to the participation of European parliamentarians in the 150th Jubilee Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent in April, and to the EU's support for the documents adopted at the forum.
Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations, exchange best practices in legislation, and expand the dialogue format.
