Rishod Sobirov defeated silver medalist of Beijing Olympic Games Ludwig Paischer, later he beat Javier Guedez of Venezuela.

In quarterfinals he defeated Felipe Kitadai of Brazil and lost to Arsen Galstyan in the semifinal bout.

In the bout for third place, Rishod Sobirov defeated Sofiane Milous of France to win bronze medal of London Games. Rishod Sobirov also won a bronze medal in Beijing Games.
