JICA helps to launch mini-pant on milk processing in Karakalpakstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A mini plant on processing of milk of pilot project on developing grass-root projects of the JICA project “Project on Studying Regional Development of Karakalpakstan” opened in Kerder of Nukus district of Karakalpakstan.

From March 2010, JICA study group carried out research on “Project on Studying Regional Development of Karakalpakstan”. Within the study, the seven pilot projects have been implemented since March 2009.

Pilot project on developing small scale technology on processing milk is one of them, which includes increasing capacity of farmers and dekhans on technology in cattle breeding, silage production, organization of seminars and organization of farm group for production of pasteurized milk.

At the pilot project, the equipment on mil processing for 6.192 million Japanese yen was installed. The plant will produce pasteurized milk. The plant successfully passed several tests.

On 15 August 2010, the plant received hygienic certificates and certificates of compliance of Uzstandard. Representatives of project participants, ministries and departments of Uzbekistan participated at the opening ceremony.
