Elections of Uzbek President to take place on 4 December
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Elections of the President of Uzbekistan will be held in Uzbekistan today, on 4 December 2016. The polling stations will open their doors at 6:00 and close at 20:00.

The Central Election Commission registered four candidates to the post of the President of Uzbekistan – from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – Hotamjon Ketmonov, the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Milly Tiklanish" – Sarvar Otamuratov and the Social-democratic party "Adolat" – Narimon Umarov.

In line with the legislation, 14 territorial election commissions, over 9,383 polling stations, including 44 polling stations at the missions of Uzbekistan in foreign countries.

About 21 million have right to cast their votes in the elections and all of them were notified about time and place of voting.

According to the law, the voters, who have no chance to vote at their place of residence, received opportunity to vote in advance. Some 117,902 voters cast their votes in early voting

The CEC of Uzbekistan registered about 500 observers from 43 countries and international organizations – the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (ODIHR OSCE), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Shanghai Cooperation Organization, World Association of electoral bodies and Organization of the Islamic Cooperation. Over 37,000 observers from four political parties will also observe presidential elections.

About 1,400 representatives of local and foreign mass media were accredited to cover presidential elections in Uzbekistan.
