Belarus-Uzbekistan Cooperation: Both sides aim to increase trade turnover to US$1 billion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A working meeting was held at the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus (MART) between the head of the ministry, Artur Karpovich, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Belarus, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS, Rakhmatulla Nazarov, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, with a particular focus on plans to increase mutual trade turnover to US$1 billion. Specific measures were considered to boost Belarusian exports to Uzbekistan and other initiatives aimed at strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
Artur Karpovich highlighted the positive dynamics of cooperation on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE). According to him, by the end of February 2025, 188 Uzbek residents, including three exchange brokers, had been accredited on the platform. In the first two months of 2025 alone, Uzbek traders concluded transactions worth US$15.8 million, which is 1.5 times higher than in the same period of 2024.
“These are very promising results, demonstrating the active development of cooperation between our countries,” emphasized the head of MART.
Both sides expressed confidence in the further strengthening of their partnership and the implementation of joint projects that will contribute to the economic growth of Belarus and Uzbekistan.
