UzSE registers deals for 70.5bn soums in Jan-Sep 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Stock Exchange (UzSE) carried out 5,890 deals with 169.9 million shares of 271 joint-stock companies in nine months of 2009. Total turnover of the UzSE made up 70.5 billion soums in the reporting period of 2009.
National currency platform registered 5,362 deals with 167.2 million shares of 263 joint0stock companies for 52.7 billion soums. Hard currency platform carried out 528 deals with 2.7 million shares worth US$12 million (17.8 billion soums in equivalent, calculated at the official rate on the day of deal).
The secondary market led in the structure of exchange turnover in the reporting period with 57.9 billion soums or 82.1% of total turnover. About 21.6% of the secondary market turnover fell to shares of REPO section.
In nine months of 2009, 19 REPO deals of the first stage with shares of 12 issuers for 5.1 billion soums and 24 REPO deals of the second state with securieites of 16 issuers worth 7.4 billion soums were recorded.
Total turnover on REPO deals made up 12.5 billion soums in nine months of 2009 or 17.7% of total exchange turnover in the reporting period.
Deals for 12.6 billion soums were registered at the IPO market, including 12.1 billion soums on deals with additional emission of shares of joint-stock companies and 0.5 billion soums with the shares of privatized enterprises.
Financial sector attained 50.9% or 35.9 billion soums of total turnover in January-September 2009. Industrial enterprises (31.3% or 22bn soums) and agro-industrial complex (8.1% or 5.7bn soums) followed the financial sector.
UzSE recorded the most deals with shares of enterprises in Tashkent city in the reporting period. The deals for 52.9 billion soums or 75% of total turnover fell to share of Tashkent city. Kashkadarya region (4.7bn soums or 6.7% of total turnover) and Tashkent region (4.2bn soums or 6% of total turnover) occupied the second and the third places.
Analysis of figures of listing companies showed that total volume of deals with the shares of listed companies in nine months of 2009 reached 29.8 billion soums or it made up 42.2% of total turnover. The major part of turnover on listed companies fell to share of Kapital Bank (5.2bn soums), Aloqabank (5bn soums) and Uktambank (4.6bn soums).
As of 1 October 2009, 20 companies were listed at the official listing of UzSE, of which 18 were commercial banks, one insurance company and one agro-industrial complex.
