Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Nestlé in Uzbekistan joined the company’s global initiative to accelerate the pace of vaccination against COVID-19, as well as ensure access to vaccines and equitable distribution of vaccines in developing countries.
The donation for 1 billion soums is aimed at supporting COVAX, an international initiative to increase access to vaccines and their equitable distribution, and Uzbekistan is one of the countries where a donation was made for the targeted purchase of coronavirus vaccines that meet the requirements of the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to vaccinate the population of the Republic.
Director of the Service of Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Yusupaliev spoke about preparations for vaccination against COVID-19 in Uzbekistan: “To organize mass vaccination of the population, 3138 vaccination points and 862 mobile medical teams have been created. The global COVAX program delivered 17 refrigerated trucks, 206 minivans and 16 cars, and trained more than 4,000 doctors and 11,000 nurses who will be involved in the vaccination process. Since April 1, 64,852 people have been vaccinated in 8 regions. Nestlé’s contribution to the national program for the introduction of vaccination against coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan is a highly regarded act of support for the efforts of the state and society. "
Sergey Tratsevsky, General Director of Nestlé in Uzbekistan, noted: “Since the beginning of the pandemic, Nestlé in Uzbekistan has joined forces with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Public Fund “Mercy and Health of Uzbekistan” in the fight against COVID-19. We strive to support those who especially need help - children and their parents, older people in need. Food and drink helps people stay healthy and improves their quality of life. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have donated more than 1.4 tons of food to those in need, provided support to medical facilities and will continue to help the local community. "
During the pandemic, Nestlé Uzbekistan supported children and their parents who were in quarantine zones and social institutions by providing more than 900 kilograms of products. The company also donated more than 500 kg of products to the Association of Disabled People of Uzbekistan and supported more than 250 of its wards. In addition, the company purchased and donated equipment for saturating blood with oxygen to one of the clinics in Tashkent.
