Suma Chakrabarti: Tourism can become one of the locomotives of the national economy of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 February 2021, negotiations were held between the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov with Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic development, effective management and international cooperation Suma Chakrabarti in the video conferencing format.

The adviser was familiarized with the reforms in the tourism sector of Uzbekistan, investment opportunities in the country's tourism industry, new directions of tourism, as well as the conditions created for the safe stay of foreign tourists on the basis of the implemented epidemiological security system “Uzbekistan. Safe travel GUARANTEED ". 

Suma Chakrabarti, in turn, noted that the tourism industry can become one of the main locomotives of the national economy of Uzbekistan. 

The parties exchanged views on updating the strategy for the development of tourism and branding of Uzbekistan abroad in the post-pandemic period, as well as effective management of cultural heritage sites, further development of the air transportation system, active involvement of the EBRD and other IFIs in the implementation of infrastructure projects and the creation of new tourist zones.
