Leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan hold a telephone conversation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 29 June, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our state cordially congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday, sincerely wishing the leader of Turkmenistan good health, prosperity and great success.
High achievements of modern Turkmenistan under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov — steady social and economic development and a steady increase in the country's authority in the international arena — are especially noted.
During the telephone conversation, topical issues of bilateral cooperation and the regional agenda were considered.
The presidents expressed deep satisfaction with the progressive strengthening of the Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership.
The need to further build up mutually beneficial practical cooperation was emphasized, especially in the areas of trade, industry, energy, agriculture, transport and transit, tourism.
The Heads of State also supported the continuation of active contacts in the border regions, as well as the expansion of educational, cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
An agreement was reached on the elaboration of joint programs and interaction projects within the framework of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission.
The presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan also noted the importance of close dialogue and coordination at the level of relevant departments in order to effectively counter the spread of coronavirus infection.
At the end of the conversation, the heads of state reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the comprehensive development and strengthening of fraternal Uzbek-Turkmen relations.
The telephone conversation was held in a traditionally warm and friendly atmosphere.
