US intends to assist in reforming the legal framework of the capital market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The US intends to assist in reforming the legal framework of the capital market of Uzbekistan.

At the first stage, the United States plans to allocate technical assistance in the amount of US$1 million for these purposes, US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo told reporters during his visit to Uzbekistan on 2-3 February.

The Government of Uzbekistan intends, within the framework of the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of the Capital Market for 2020-2025, to unify the legislative framework in the field of the capital market and to unite more than 100 legal acts with uniform direct laws "On the capital market" and "On the capital market regulator".

In particular, within the framework of this technical assistance, the Agency will attract highly qualified experts to develop the above draft laws.

In addition, an agreement was reached between the Agency for Capital Market of Uzbekistan and the US Securities and Exchange Commission to improve the skills of Agency staff at the Institute of the Commission.
