A meeting with UNESCO representatives takes place at the Center for Economic Research and Reforms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 12 December, a meeting with representatives of UNESCO was held at the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter the Center).
This meeting was organized as part of a review mission of representatives of UNESCO headquarters in Paris and the regional office in Almaty to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The purpose of the delegation’s review mission is to help strengthen the inclusive system of science, technology and innovation (STI) in Uzbekistan.
UNESCO was represented by Ms. S. Elchi, STI Policy Advisor from Paris Headquarters, Ms. K. Tovmasyan, STI Policy Advisor from the Almaty Office, and Ms. N, National STI Consultant Mukhitdinova.
From the Uzbek side, the director of the Center O. Khakimov, deputy director U. Abidhadzhaev, chief researcher M. Kholmukhamedov and chief researcher of the First Government Accelerator A. Halmurzaev participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the guests expressed great interest in the activities of the Center, and also talked about the goals and objectives of the review mission.
The leadership of the Center acquainted those present with the main tasks and activities of the Center, as well as the main areas of work of the First Government Accelerator.
Also, the Director of the Center informed the guests about ongoing research conducted by the Center’s research staff. In particular, it was noted that large-scale work is underway to assess the impact and a detailed analysis of the integration processes within the EAEU and the WTO.
In turn, members of the review mission of UNESCO headquarters noted that the latest changes and reforms implemented in Uzbekistan to improve public administration are very important and timely.
The meeting highlighted the priority areas of research by the Center’s sectors, especially the interaction with interested ministries, think tanks, and also foreign partners in the field of improving decision-making for the implementation of an effective economic policy.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop further cooperation in the field of using STI to solve major social and economic problems in Uzbekistan.
