An event on energy efficiency measures takes place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 11 November 2019, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan held next events in Tashkent to improve energy efficiency - a thematic “round table” and a sales fair.

They are organized as part of a republican campaign taking place in all regions of the country from 15 October to 15 November. The goal is to bring to the general public the goals and objectives of the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On accelerated measures to increase energy efficiency in economic and social sectors, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the development of renewable energy sources”.

Discussions and the presented products allow to get acquainted with the experience of industrial enterprises in the field of energy-saving technologies, as well as the benefits and advantages of investments in energy efficiency with the support of the project "Improving the energy efficiency of industrial enterprises" using funds from the World Bank and the European Investment Bank.

Improving energy efficiency is one of the priority areas for the development of the national economy, a significant contribution to the country’s energy security.

Withn the framework of the project “Improving the energy efficiency of industrial enterprises”, energy-intensive domestic enterprises were able to significantly reduce the volume of electricity and natural gas consumption in the production process.

The project, which has been implemented since 2011, uses soft loans from the World Bank Development Association in the amount of US$325 million, as well as funds from commercial banks in Uzbekistan. To date, over 30 industrial enterprises have received preferential loans aimed at selling in energy-intensive industries such as oil and gas, mining, chemical, electricity, construction and processing. As a result, energy savings amounted to more than 500 million kWh and natural gas - 187 million cubic meters a year. In addition, the project participating companies reduced atmospheric emissions to 580,000 metric tons of CO2 per year.

During the events in Tashkent, equipment manufacturers, enterprises, banks participating in projects have clearly demonstrated their achievements in improving energy efficiency. This made it possible to obtain valuable information to other enterprises, as well as departments and private users interested in lowering energy costs.

The republican campaign will continue and the next events will take place on 13 November, in the city of Nurafshan in the building of the khokimiyat of Tashkent region.
