Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) commented on a statement by Komil Allamjanov, director of the Agency for Information and Mass Media, about violations of journalistic ethics by the Uzbek service Radio Liberty - Ozodlik. This was reported by the press service of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
USAGM is an independent agency of the United States government, which includes Voice of America, Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE / RL), and other broadcast media organizations.
The chief executive officer of the American agency, John Lansing, noted that USAGM takes all allegations of journalistic ethics very seriously, does not tolerate or justify bias on the part of any Radio Liberty service or journalist. The Head of the Agency emphasized the “importance of adhering to the highest standards of objectivity and impartiality”, calling them “fundamental principles” that the US Global Media Agency adheres to.
The newly appointed president and chief executive officer of RFE / RL, Jamie Fly, thanking for raising concerns about the activities of the Uzbek service Radio Liberty, also noted a thorough study of the alleged facts.
Earlier, Director of the Information and Mass Communications Agency Komil Allamjanov expressed concern about the working methods of the Uzbek service Radio Liberty, noting the manifestations of bias and unprofessionalism in the work of this broadcasting organization in Uzbekistan. He also noted the facts of a fraudulent collection of information by Ozodlik, falsification of audio recordings and the use of so-called "Fake accounts" for the publication of unfounded messages.
