Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During a working visit to Namangan region in February 2019, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Akhsikent archaeological site in Turakurgan district. The head of state gave an order to provide the Archaeological Research Institute named after Y. Gulyamov of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan with special equipment and cars.
Recently, the institute received a compact excavator manufactured by UzXCMG LLC (a plant at Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC) and two Damas cars. The ceremony was attended by professors of the institute, railway workers and media representatives.
“This mini-excavator is very convenient for archaeological excavations,” says Abdulhamid Anorboev, doctor of historical sciences. - Since during the excavation, heavy equipment can damage historical monuments. That is why the 1.2 ton equipment is the most suitable for us and we use it in the excavation of the Ahsikent memorial complex. This is a worthy gift for us.

Akhsikent appeared in the III century BC and was the capital of ancient Ferghana, one of the main transit points of the Great Silk Road. It had its own underground water source and was convenient for defense. It consisted of an arch, inner and outer city. At one time, glass, pottery, blacksmithing, arms manufacturing and other crafts were rapidly developing here. By 1620, the city was destroyed by an earthquake.
