A delegation of the Oliy Majlis holds talks in South Korea

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva is on an official visit to the Republic of Korea at the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
On the first day of its stay in Korea, the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan held a number of constructive talks.
The first item of the program was a meeting with the mayor of Incheon Park Nam Chun with the participation of the Commissioner of the Free economic zone "Incheon" Lee Won Jae. During the meeting it was noted the mutual desire of the parties to prepare and promote promising projects and programs of mutually beneficial cooperation with the mayor’s office of Incheon.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation of Uzbekistan met with the President of the Global Institute of Green Growth Ban Ki-Moon. They discussed the coordination of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea on the environment and climate, the possibility of further promotion of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at solving urgent problems of the Aral Sea.
The emphasis was placed on the further steps of Uzbekistan to start the implementation of projects that were submitted to the Global Institute for Green Growth, as well as the possibilities of opening a representative office of the Institute in Uzbekistan.
It was noted that the direct presence of representatives of the Institute in Uzbekistan will increase the institutional capacity of the GGGI to attract funding from the Green climate Fund, as well as other funds for the development and implementation of environmentally friendly technologies, integrated implementation of the principles of the "green" economy, environmentally friendly, energy and water-saving technologies, prevention of desertification and environmental migration, as well as measures for adaptation and mitigation of climate change in Central Asia.
Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva invited Ban Ki-Moon and his team to take part in the International high-level conference under the auspices of the UN on the Declaration of the Aral Sea region – a zone of environmental innovation and technology, which will be held on 25 October in Uzbekistan.
Members of the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan also met with the leadership of the Green Climate Fund. It was noted that the GCF is a United Nations Fund, organized in late 2010, which directs funds from developed countries to developing countries, helping them to cope with global warming and other problems such as flooding, drought and heat waves.
During the meeting with the Director General of the World Association of Electoral Bodies (A-WEB) Kim Deil, the issues of further strengthening of bilateral relations of A-WEB with the Central election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, were discussed. A-WEB was informed about the upcoming parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan in December this year.
It was stressed that Uzbekistan and the A-WEB Secretariat are developing fruitful cooperation, which undoubtedly provides the organizers of the elections with the exchange of experience and discussion of topical issues in the field of preparation and conduct of elections, familiarization with the positive experience of foreign countries, the study of advanced electoral legislation and law enforcement practice, prompt communication to the international community of objective information on the democratic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan. It was stressed that Uzbekistan is interested in further cooperation with A-WEB.
The delegation also met with Chairman of the Association of women inventors of the Republic of Korea Insil Lee, Vice President of Hyundai Motors Sang Jun Kim. Members of the parliamentary delegation visited and got acquainted with the activities of the Korean-Uzbek Business center.
