Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 26 June 2019 Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States Javlon Vahabov met with the Director of the Holocaust Memorial Museum of the Holocaust (USHMM) Sarah Blumfield.
The Holocaust Memorial Museum is an American national organization for the documentation, study and interpretation of Holocaust history and serves as a memorial to the millions of people who have died. The museum collection includes about 20 thousand artifacts.
As noted by the American side at the meeting, “the humanity of the Uzbek people, manifested during the Second World War, is a true indicator of generosity and tolerance. Undoubtedly, the whole world should know this contribution of Uzbekistan, which has become not a refuge, but a home for millions of representatives of different nationalities, including hundreds of thousands of Jews. Following the results of joint work with the Agency “Uzarhiv”, USHMM intends to organize a special corner in the American museum dedicated to the contribution of our country to the preservation of life of representatives of Jewish communities, as well as to hold an official opening ceremony of this section of its establishment together with partners from Uzbekistan.
