Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism Alisher Kurmanov met with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia, Public Affairs, diplomacy and print by Jonathan Henick.
During the meeting, issues of further multi-faceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States were discussed. It was emphasized that interstate relations between Uzbekistan and the United States are characterized by positive dynamics due to the decisiveness and pragmatic policy of the presidents of the two states.
Jonathan Henick noted that the US government supports fundamental changes in various spheres and democratic reforms carried out under the leadership of President Sh.Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan in order to improve the welfare of the people, and expressed readiness to provide full assistance in implementing programs aimed at further democratization of society, attracting investment , socio-economic development of the country.
It also envisages cooperation with Uzbekistan in further strengthening parliamentarism, studying the US experience in the implementation of the control functions of parliament, the formation of the State budget, and the functioning of the legislative apparatus.
Particular emphasis was placed on the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the role of public and public diplomacy in bringing people closer together and strengthening trust between countries, studying the rich historical and cultural heritage, traditions and customs of the people of Uzbekistan, and wider use of the twin-sister mechanism.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on enhancing bilateral cooperation.
