Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan Tanzilya Narbayeva, who participates in the head of the delegation of Uzbekistan in the 108th session of the International Labor Conference in Geneva, was invited by the Director General of the International Labor Organization ( ILO) Guy Ryder as a guest of honor at a high-level forum dedicated to the celebration of World Day Against Child Labor.
The goal of the event, which was held on 13 June 2019 under the motto “A Century of Struggle: Towards a Future without Child Labor,” was to maintain the priority status on the global agenda of efforts aimed at eradicating this negative phenomenon in all its forms.
The forum was attended by over 500 representatives of governments, employers ‘and workers’ organizations, as well as international NGOs, the media and civil society.
Taking into account the positive experience accumulated by Uzbekistan in a relatively short period and the Government’s commitment to further progress in this direction, our country was first invited by the ILO leadership to such an important event as a guest of honor.
Of particular interest was the presentation of the head of the delegation of Uzbekistan on the progress achieved under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in these areas, on the country’s specific positive efforts to eliminate systemic factors of forced labor, in particular, the measures taken to strengthen social partnership and dialogue in labor relations, implementation of parliamentary and public control to ensure the social and labor rights of citizens.
Plans to strengthen the institutional framework and administrative mechanisms to prevent forced labor, further improve the regulatory framework, continued commitment to expand joint cooperation on the implementation of international labor standards, strengthen the role of women and improve their position in the political, socio-economic and cultural spheres of society were presented.
