Beijing hosts a meeting of vice-premiers of China and Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov held a meeting with Vice Premier of the State Council of China, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Ms. Sun Chunlan, who is in charge of issues education, health, science, technology, tourism, culture and sport. The meeting was attended by heads of departments of the PRC responsible for social issues.
The parties held a thorough and substantive discussion of the current situation of the Uzbek-Chinese bilateral cooperation in the social sphere.
Projects for joint implementation in the fields of education, health care, science, culture, tourism and sports are also outlined.
The Chinese side was informed in detail about the launch of the “Five Most Important Initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” to involve young people and the population in music and art, physical education and sports, develop IT-technology skills, improve spirituality and reading culture, and ensure the employment of women.
Detailed information was also provided on the successful activities of Confucius Institutes in Tashkent and Samarkand, established in Samarkand’s Confucius Square. The Chinese side was told about the practical results of the project on the technical equipment of children’s medical institutions and rehabilitation centers for people with special needs.
The parties noted the need to intensify cooperation in the field of education, including the opening of branches of Chinese technical universities, the study of Chinese experience in preparing specialists for preschool education. Special thanks are expressed for the warm welcome last month of the delegation of the Ministry of Pre-School Education.
In order to expand cooperation, a number of promising projects were proposed for the consideration of the Chinese side.
In particular, the introduction of in-depth study of Chinese language programs in schools, the expansion of the activities of the Training Center in Termez to train Afghan citizens through the involvement of the Chinese side and the allocation of additional funding, the creation of medical centers, including traditional Chinese medicine, pharmaceutical laboratories for the production of herbal medicines, exchange of experience on the development of mass sports and physical education, opening a branch of the Chinese university for training Olympic athletes, installing a telescope for joint space research, opening new direct flights from major cities of China to historical centers of Uzbekistan , museumification of archaeological excavations and a number of other new projects were considered.
Vice-Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Ms. S. Chunlan, was invited to Uzbekistan to familiarize herself with the country’s historical and cultural heritage and tourism potential, as well as to work out new promising projects and initiatives in the social sphere. Vice Premier S. Chunlan expressed readiness to make a visit to our country in the near future and strongly support the intensification of bilateral cooperation, noting that the proposals of the Uzbek side are promising and will be carefully studied.
In turn, in the framework of expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Ms. S. Chunlan proposed to increase the holding of various festive events, festivals and forums, to carry out a joint translation of historical and literary publications, feature films and television materials and to conduct joint archaeological work.
The Vice Prime Minister stressed that the simplification by the Uzbek side of issuing visas for Chinese citizens would, on the one hand, increase the tourist flow from China to Uzbekistan, and on the other, the need to open additional flights between the cities of the two countries. It is reported that, given the sharp increase in the flow of Chinese tourists, a number of Chinese regions are showing great interest in opening flights to the ancient cities of Uzbekistan.
The Chinese Deputy Prime Minister noted that the creation of joint medical laboratories and research centers in Uzbekistan, the opening of medical centers and the establishment of the production of natural medicines could be very promising.
Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to form a working group with the participation of the heads of the responsible departments of the social bloc and hold its first meeting in Tashkent for further elaboration of promising projects and initiatives.
