Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari takes part in the First Caspian Ports and Shipping Exhibition and Conference 2019, which held in Aktau, Kazakhstan, these days.
The meeting is attended by world-class managers and experts in the field of transport and logistics. The focus is on current issues and challenges in the field of global and regional trade involving the infrastructure of the Caspian region.
More than 300 representatives of railway, maritime, transport and logistics companies, the leading shippers of the region and others take part in discussions on the current state of transport and logistics.
It should be noted that the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan have many years of cooperation experience, built on the basis of the principles of mutual trust and good neighborliness. A logical confirmation of this is the announcement of 2019 as the Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan, which further contributes to the strengthening of mutual cultural, humanitarian and trade relations. In addition, from year to year cooperation in the development of railway transport is strengthening, the volume of traffic between the two countries is growing.
The growth of cargo flows, the accelerated development of the economies of the countries of the region, along with the clustering of production and changes in the structure of transportation, necessitate the creation of new routes that meet the current trends in the development of the freight transportation market.
In recent years, in the world, freight transportation is increasingly shifting towards containerization. To date, the share of container flows in the total global freight traffic is about 60%. It is expected that this share will continue to grow, as container traffic shows an annual growth. According to experts, in 2019 this growth will be 4-5%.
Rail transport has significant potential for container transport. The current state of development of the railways of the countries of Eurasia makes it possible to reorient about 5% of the container flow from sea transport in the direction of Europe - Asia - Europe to the railway transport.
The railways of Uzbekistan are also actively transporting cargo in containers. Container fleet operator
The volume of container traffic with the participation of railways of Uzbekistan is growing significantly. At the end of 2018, an increase of 35% was recorded.
In October 2018, a new container express train was launched on the route Tashkent-Pap-Margilan-Andijan to support domestic producers and small and medium-sized businesses. A distinctive feature of the new train was a simplified way of arranging shipments in 20 and 40-foot containers. Among the main advantages of the container express train, it is also worth noting the low cost of transportation at fixed fares. Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to receive and dispatch goods on a regular weekly basis on a regular schedule - just contact the appropriate station.
One of the projects that has a development perspective is the container block train that goes to Uzbekistan through the ports of Aktau or Kuryk. As already noted, the container flow to Uzbekistan has a steady upward trend, which further increases the relevance of this project. The use of the ports’ data infrastructure will allow shipments from Europe, Kazakhstan and other countries to the regions of Uzbekistan and in the opposite direction most quickly and efficiently.
