Uzbekistan sets stiff punishment for illegal use of drones

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Anyone who imports, sells or uses unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) could be sent to 10 years in prison in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Justice said Friday.
The new amendments to the country's criminal code, signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will come into effect in six months, the ministry said.
The Criminal Code introduced a sentence of imprisonment for up to three years for illegal import, sale, purchase, storage or use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The same actions committed under aggravating circumstances shall be punished with imprisonment from eight to ten years.
In addition, violation of the procedure for the storage and use of unmanned aerial vehicles also entails criminal liability.
