Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rovshan Izamov represented the country as part of a delegation at the Medical Korea 2019 forum. In an interview on the results of the visit, he noted the new opportunities offered by regional medical integration.
- Rovshan Izamov, why did participation in Medical Korea 2019 give you the opportunity to speak about new opportunities for regional medical integration? What is generally understood by this concept today?
- First of all, a few words about the Medical Korea forum. For the past 10 years, this event has been held in the Republic of Korea and is a high-level medical forum with the participation of leaders, in particular, ministers of health in many countries. The delegation of Uzbekistan, which also included the rector of the Tashkent Medical Academy, Laziz Tuychiev, participated in Medical Korea 2019 at the invitation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Korea Mr. Park Nong Hu.
Medical Korea, in addition to representing the achievements of medicine of the Republic of Korea itself, is a meeting place for the leaders of the medical sphere of the countries of the world. This allows them to communicate directly with each other, make direct contacts, exchange preliminary agreements. In particular, representatives of the high-level medical field of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan took part in it. I spoke directly with the ministers of health of Mongolia, Vietnam, where we discussed the possibilities of cooperation and integration in the field of medicine, the realization of which is real in the short term.
In particular, they talked about the possibility of opening the Center of Traditional Mongolian Medicine in Uzbekistan, there are other interesting proposals that will work on the medical integration of different countries, the search for new opportunities, which ultimately will have a positive effect on people’s health. Medical integration today is the search for mutually beneficial solutions, finding new forms that allow you to bring the process of diagnosis and treatment to a new level. I will give an example from the same Korea.
The forum was organized to visit the Clinic of traditional medicine, which is located in a high-rise building, has many areas, extensive infrastructure, its own hospital. Here we were presented, in particular, the method of non-surgical treatment of intervertebral hernia. What is not innovative development, the presence of which would not hurt us? It is also one of the examples of the level of medical integration, which allows us to adopt all the best and, above all, important and necessary for people’s health. And the format of the Medical Korea forum allowed us to take note of a number of such opportunities, introduced people who make decisions in the field of medicine in different countries. I think that this format can be applied here in Uzbekistan.
- What else was the Medical Korea forum that impressed you?
- This is a good question, because it is clear that the meetings were due to the fact that this authoritative forum today brings together such a representation of health ministers, rectors of leading medical schools in different countries. The forum itself is a series of interesting events.
On the opening day, along with welcoming speeches from the country - the hostess of the forum, delegations from different countries, with the participation of all of us, a very interesting event took place. The Republic of Korea has awarded medics as well as whole clinics for their achievements. It was nice to see eminent surgeons, ENT doctors, therapists and many others who were solemnly honored by their country, came to the stage to applause.
And considering that there were representatives of medicine on the stage and in the hall, we all were, as they say, on the same wavelength. In the afternoon of the forum, educational sessions were presented, where several leading universities in Korea and several other countries presented their latest achievements. TMA rector Laziz Tuychiev also spoke at this forum on the topic of medical education in Uzbekistan.
During the days of the forum an international medical exhibition is held. It also allows to get acquainted, first of all, with the achievements of modern medicine of the Republic of Korea, its leading medical clinics in various directions. This is a very good professional level of promotion of medical tourism, which today is becoming increasingly popular around the world. In particular, the Korean analogue of the well-known robot-assisted surgical system “Da Vinci” was presented at the exhibition with the possibility of testing the system.
Our delegation held preliminary talks on the possibility of the representation of this unique equipment in Uzbekistan. Like all discussions within Medical Korea, this one can also have its practical continuation.
Speaking about the negotiations, it is important to note that for the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan, official G2G meetings were organized with such high-level representatives of the Republic of Korea as Vice Minister Won Doc Chol and Vice President of the Korean Association of Pharmacists and Bioindustry Kevin Kuyungha Huh.
That is, the uniqueness of the format of Medical Korea is that this is a very multifaceted event, which gives great opportunities, like the presentation of the country, its possibilities in the field of medicine, including medical tourism, and so that it causes genuine interest and desire to cooperate, and direct contacts of medical leaders in many countries, promoting regional medical integration.
Regionality is implied in the fact that here are collected countries that really have something to offer each other and who have a common understanding in this regard. I think that it would be expedient to adopt the experience of creating such an interesting platform for Uzbekistan, given that we already have the opportunity to hold separate components of such a form, in particular, medical exhibitions.
We also have something to offer to various countries in the field of the same medical tourism and it is important to present it at an appropriate level, for example, in my opinion, Medical Korea is an example. I am sure that medical tourism in Uzbekistan as a result of such a forum may already be in great demand at the first stage in the countries-neighbors of the region including Afghanistan, in Russia itself, where our capabilities are quite well known, but are still underused.
I also note that on the fields of the forum I was able to talk with the Minister of Health of the Republic of Korea Mr. Park Nong Hu, briefly presenting him the goals and objectives of the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of the Republic recently created in Uzbekistan at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Interest in our structure was also shown in the course of the other meetings listed above, where the interlocutors noted that the National Chamber has good opportunities in supporting projects to create multidisciplinary medical centers in Uzbekistan with the participation of investors from the same Korea, in the pharmaceutical industry, the development of medical educational programs, including the opening of new educational institutions and other areas.
According to foreign participants in the meetings, the National Chamber could become a bridge between the health systems of their countries and Uzbekistan, which certainly have differences, and found those approaches in their interaction that will allow not only to see potential types of cooperation, but also to bring them into real deadlines to a specific result. After all, it is no secret that the difference of approaches, natural for representatives of different countries, in practice can lead to the incompleteness of the most seemingly interesting and bright projects. In this, our partners noted, the National Chamber may become the state structure that will enhance the effectiveness of international partnership in the medical field.
And one of the confirmations of these opinions was the decision of the Korean side about the upcoming meetings already in Uzbekistan to discuss promising joint projects.
Also, as part of the forum, guests of the forum were introduced to specific medical facilities, including the pharmaceutical plant and its innovative methods and developments, the Center for Korean Traditional Medicine, which I have already mentioned. The program of Medical Korea was as rich as it was, and very properly built, so that the participants were able to draw important conclusions for themselves, to hold the necessary meetings, which can later turn into very interesting joint projects that promote medicine and protect the health of the population of our countries.
The outcome of the forum is the understanding that the potential of Uzbekistan in the health sector, Korea and many other countries have a great interest, there is a lot of work ahead. The future of medicine is through the integration of efforts, joint projects, developed medical tourism, the convergence of standards and approaches.
