UN highly appreciated the state policy of Uzbekistan to support women

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As previously reported, on 11 March 2019, the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) began its work at the UN headquarters in New York, in which the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee Tanzila Narbaeva takes place, according to the press service of the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan.
High-level delegates of UN member states, experts from international organizations, regional and functional departments of the organization, representatives of human rights organizations and civil society take part in this event.
The report of the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzily Narbayeva, on the policy in our country in recent years to support women, gender equality and empower them to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals until 2030, was of particular interest among the participants.
The session participants were informed that a five-year Action Strategy is being successfully implemented in Uzbekistan, in which special attention is paid to the issues of empowerment and social protection of women.
The delegation stressed Uzbekistan’s firm commitment to further ensuring gender equality, protecting the rights and interests of women in accordance with Agenda 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Women’s Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan T. Narbayeva met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Natalie Kan, during which the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation were discussed within this Organization .
During the bilateral meeting, the Fund’s management was acquainted with the policy in the field of women’s empowerment conducted under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, as well as the latest regulatory acts adopted on the comprehensive support of women in our country.
The UNFPA Executive Director noted with satisfaction that in recent years, Uzbekistan has been experiencing very positive changes in the sphere of social protection of the population, promotion of women, ensuring gender equality and reproductive health. According to her, there is an increase in the social activity of women in all levels of government and public life.
