Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan began its work in Vladivostok (Russia). The opening ceremony took place on 1 March 2019.
This is the fifth diplomatic representation of Uzbekistan in Russia and the first in the Far East.
Rustam Ismailov became head of the Consulate General. The diplomatic mission will deal with the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia on the territory of the subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District.
Acting Deputy Governor of Primorye Konstantin Bogdanenko and the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok Rustam Ismailov discussed plans for organizing future interaction during a bilateral meeting. Among the most important areas of cooperation between Primorye and Uzbekistan were commerce, tourism, transport and logistics.
Konstantin Bogdanenko stressed that today eight enterprises with Uzbek investments are actively working in the region, all of them carry out their activities in the field of trade. At the end of 2018, the volume of trade between the Primorsky Krai and the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to $ 1.7 million.
“We need to increase and expand this cooperation. I hope that with the opening of the Consulate General this work will become systematic and results will appear in it, ”the acting deputy head of the region noted, stressing that the Territory Administration is ready to assist the new Consul General in organizing her work in Primorye.
In turn, Rustam Ismailov said that currently fruit and vegetable farms and textile production are actively developing in Uzbekistan. Entrepreneurs are interested in organizing the delivery of products directly to Primorye and are currently exploring options for cooperation.
