Uzbekenergo starts to charge a penalty in case of late payment for electricity

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Starting from 11 February 2019, if there is a debt for the consumed electric energy, household consumers pay a penalty in the amount of 0.1 percent for each day of delay to the enterprises of territorial electric networks, Uzbekenergo said in a statement.
According to the amendments to Resolution No. 22 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 12, 2018 “On Additional Measures to Improve the Procedure for Using Electric Energy and Natural Gas”, starting from February 11, 2019, if there is a debt of payment for consumed electric energy, household consumers penalty in the amount of 0.1 percent for each day of delay to the enterprises of territorial electric networks. At the same time, the fine size cannot be more than 50 percent of the amount of the overdue payment.
The accrual of interest is made from the amount of the adjusted debt of the household consumer after taking readings of electricity metering devices after 1 January 2019 and recalculations made, and taking into account the prepayment made in the prescribed manner, starting from the 11th of the month following the settlement period, the company noted.
