Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan paid an official visit to the Republic of Tatarstan, where a meeting with the President of Tatarstan was held.
The purpose of this visit was a comprehensive study of the development of the areas of construction, transport, utilities, landscaping, as well as their compliance with international standards and requirements.
During the visit, members of the delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov in the Kazan Kremlin met with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
The subject of conversation and discussion was the development of cooperation, including in the field of economy, education and culture. In particular, the head of the Uzbek delegation noted that in 2019 it is planned to increase trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Tatarstan by 80% compared to the last 2018.
“Uzbekistan’s trade with Russia amounts to more than US$6 billion, but with Tatarstan there should be at least 10% of this amount,” the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan emphasized.
It should be noted that in 2017 the foreign trade turnover between two countries grew by 80%, and in 2018 - by another 57%, amounting to about US$146 million. Clothes, knitwear and cotton come to the Tatarstan market from Uzbekistan. Equipment, products from ferrous metals, plastics, rubber and rubber are supplied from Tatarstan to Uzbekistan.
“This is a good growth rate,” said Rustam Minnikhanov. - But do not stop there. What is important is the mutual exchange of delegations, exploring the capabilities of each other. We must work to increase the volume and range of mutual deliveries of goods and services. ”
At the same time, more than 3 thousand Uzbek students study at universities in Tatarstan.
Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstam would be glad to increase the number of students from Uzbekistan.
“We have good prospects for further expansion of cooperation,” said Rustam Minnikhanov, referring to First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov.
During the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov also thanked for the decision to open the consulate general of Uzbekistan in Tatarstan.
First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the rich program prepared for the delegation of Uzbekistan in Kazan.
Speaking about further interaction, he stressed: "Our relationship lasts for centuries."
According to Achilbay Ramatov, today Uzbekistan is “open to all”. The country is rapidly building projects, investors are coming, new sites are being created.
Achilbay Ramatov said that he was in Kazan on the instructions of the President of Uzbekistan. He also noted that he had previously visited Tatarstan 20 years ago, in 1998. We see significant changes, he said, you have good personnel, specialists, we are ready to cooperate in many areas.
Ramatov said that today the trade turnover of Uzbekistan and Russia is about US$6 billion. According to him, there are opportunities for the growth of commodity circulation of Uzbekistan with the regions of Russia, in particular, with Tatarstan.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan informed that four flights are operated weekly between Tashkent and Kazan, and if necessary, the number of flights can be increased. “If necessary, we will increase the number of flights,” he said. “Since there are passengers in this direction.”
Achilbay Ramatov stated that the tourist flow to Uzbekistan is also growing. “We have opened borders,” he said. - We are open to all. And we are ready to cooperate. ”
