Uzbekistan to introduce innovative model of healthcare management

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An innovative model of healthcare management will be introduced in Uzbekistan.
President of Uzbekistan Shvakat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to introduce an innovative model of healthcare management in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The resolutioon defines the strategic goals of implementing the innovative model of healthcare management in Uzbekistan:
Uzbek President ordered to form the National Chamber of Innovative Health on the basis of the Scientific Research Institute of Public Health and Health Organization under the Ministry of Health. The Chamber will have structural units in Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent.
The newly created chamber will develop a strategy for development of the healthcare system, taking into account the best world practices, modern clinical guidelines and protocols, quality standards for diagnosis and treatment.
It will also deal with digitalization systems for collection and analysis of medical statistics, as well as introduce a system of registration of doctors and pharmacists.
Among the tasks of the Chamber are creation of a health infrastructure that meets international standards, monitoring the level of professional qualification of medical workers, including through their individual licensing, introduction of mechanisms to reduce medical errors, medical insurance of citizens, attracting foreign investment and accelerating the development of private health.
The resolution noted that the Chamber will unite medical and pharmaceutical workers of the country and can act as the founder of medical, pharmaceutical and other organizations.
The President of Uzbekistan ordered to introduce a system of registration of doctors and pharmacists and create their unified public electronic database by 31 December 2020.
Starting from 1 January 2021, the activity of doctors and pharmacists without registration in the National Chamber is prohibited, the document said.
The head of state also instructed to create an advisory council on introduction of the innovative model of health care in Uzbekistan and the Fund for Support of Innovative Health Care of Uzbekistan under the national chamber.
The resolution noted that leading foreign organizations, including GMC Service International (UK), will be involved in expert support of reforms in the health management system.
