Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nasirjan Yusupov presented his credentials to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. This was reported by the press service of the head of Belarus.
Lukashenka noted that Uzbekistan and Belarus this year mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
He said that Belarus cherishes the bonds of friendship between the two countries. The President of Belarus greeted the decision of Uzbekistan to open a full-fledged diplomatic mission in Minsk.
"This is an important and timely step, demonstrating the focus on a comprehensive deepening of the dialogue," the Belarusian leader said.
President Alexander Lukashenko offered Uzbekistan the construction of an embassy in Minsk, BelTA reported.
"If you decide to build an embassy building, we can offer a good platform," he added.
Nasirjan Yusupov stressed that the President of Belarus had anticipated the intention of the Uzbek side to build the embassy building in Minsk.
“For us, this is a very flattering proposal, and in the near future we are going to start implementing it. In the beginning, of course, we have to solve some organizational and technical issues,” he added.
The Ambassador underlined that the Belarusian-Uzbek relations are developing quite intensively lately, and there is mutual interest in this. At present, both sides are actively preparing for the forthcoming visit of the Belarusian President to Uzbekistan, which is scheduled for 2018.
