Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Joint Commission on International Road Transport was held in Samarqand on 17-18 May 2018. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek Agency of Road Transport.
The parties said that the high-level talks held in October 2017 and April 2018 opened new prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of international road transport.
It was underlined that one of the landmark events of the State visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Turkey in October 2017 was signing of a new Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on international road transport of passengers and cargo.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on creating the most favorable conditions for international road transport between two countries, determined an additional quota for the exchange of permission forms for 2018 and discussed the preliminary quota for 2019, including taking into account the provisions of the new Agreement, and also considered practical issues related to the implementation of road transport between Uzbekistan and Turkey.
In this context, the Turkish side, expressing gratitude to the Uzbek side for measures taken to create favorable conditions for international road transport through the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, agreed to take the necessary measures to reduce the amount of road toll for Uzbek truckers in the territory of the Republic of Turkey by aligning it the rate established in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan for entry of a single motor vehicle, and to abolish the possibility of abolishing entry visas for drivers of Uzbek road carriers engaged in international road transport through the territory of the Republic of Turkey.
Following the meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Joint Commission on International Road Transport, the final protocol was signed.
