Uzbekistan Railways starts to transport passenger via new railway “Bukhara-Misken”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) started operating a new railway line Bukhara-Misken for passenger transportation.
Starting from 20 March 2018, passenger trains “Tashkent-Urgench” and “Tashkent-Nukus-Kungrad” started to run via new railway line, which reduced the travel time by two hours, the company said.
The Uzbek company underlined that the trains “Tashkent-Saratov”, “Tashkent-Volgograd”, “Almaty-Nukus”, “Andijan-Urgench” and “Nukus-Urgench-Termez” now run on new line.
Uzbekistan Temir Yollari began construction of Bukhara-Misken line with a length of 355 km in December 2016.
On 1 December 2017, new line was put into operation. Uzbekiston Temir Yollari started the transportation of goods on the railway line “Bukhara-Misken”.
With the launch of the line, the distance between Tashkent and Urgench was reduced by 75 km. Before this, trains from Tashkent to Khorezm region run via Navoi-Uchquduq-Misken railway line.
In the future, it is planned to run high speed train Afrosiyob via the railway line “Bukhara-Misken”.
