Uzbekistan to host contest on mathematics, physics and computer science among school pupils

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A competition on mathematics, physics and computer science among gifted schoolchildren of the 10th and 11th grades will be held annually in Uzbekistan.
The corresponding resolution was approved by the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications and the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan.
The main purpose of the contest is to preserve and promote the heritage of Muhammad al-Khorazmiy, increase interest in studying the exact sciences among the younger generation, as well as identify talents in the field of information technology and create conditions for realizing their potential.
The competition will include three stages. At the first stage, participants will pass an online test in their schools in three subjects: mathematics, physics and computer science. Those, who score 80 points or more, will get the right to participate in the second stage.
In the second - regional stage, the schoolchildren have to solve 9 problems in three subjects and score 75 points or more to progress to the next stage.
The final of the contest will be held at Inha University in Tashkent. At this stage, participants will have to solve 15 tasks.
The winners of the contest will be awarded with the "Muhammad al-Khorazmiy izdoshlari" award (“Followers of Muhammad al-Khorazmiy”). In addition, the holder of the first place will receive a monetary reward in the amount of 100 minimum wages (MWR), the second - 75 MWR and the third - 65 MWR.
