Uzbekistan to establish Agency for protection of consumers’ rights

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Agency for protection of consumers’ rights is planning to establish in Uzbekistan.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan published a draft presidential decree “On measures for cardinal improvement of system for supporting business development and improving business conditions”.
According to the draft decree, the Agency for protection of consumers’ rights will be the sole authorized body and will receive the functions of other state bodies.
In particular, the new agency will receive the functions of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for promotion of privatized enterprises and development of competition for carrying out inspections of business entities on compliance with the requirements of legislation on consumer protection and on advertising.
Functions of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan on implementation of inspections of compliance with trade rules and provision of services will also be transferred to the Agency.
The agency will carry out inspections of the activities of business entities operating in the field of printing.
The document says that the law "On Protection of Consumer Rights" in a new version will be developed in Uzbekistan.
