Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan will strengthen work on expanding the export of Uzbek products in 2018. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Saidikram Niyazhodjaev.
“Over the past year, much has been done, agreements have been signed for US$60 billion, but as the head of state has stressed, all these agreements remain on paper. It is necessary to implement the agreements, so that the ordinary people feel their benefits on themselves,” he said.
The Foreign Ministry is also stepping up efforts to attract foreign investment, advanced technologies and knowledge for modernization and development of industry and infrastructure of Uzbekistan.
He said that Uzbekistan plans to establish close constructive cooperation with international rating agencies in order to improve the country’s credit ratings, improve the business environment, expand economic freedoms, increase competitiveness, counter corruption and excessive bureaucratization, strengthen the rule of law and freedom of speech.
“This, on the one hand, will give us opportunity to show ourselves to the world, on other, will allow us to critically evaluate our activities,” Saidikram Niyazhodjaev added.
It is also planned to hold the International Investment Forum, the Central Asian Regional Economic Forum, the diplomat stressed.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan stated that the Foreign Ministry will conduct effective and systematic work to expand the tourist flow to Uzbekistan.
“In this direction, we plan to introduce electronic visas for foreign citizens, visiting Uzbekistan for tourist purposes. We will continue our efforts to attract global brands to national tourism sector, expand a program of pilgrimage tours,” the diplomat added.
The Ministry is reforming the system of interaction of foreign missions with ministries and departments, as well as with the regions of the country.
Priority will remain in improving the capabilities of transport and communications infrastructure, ensuring capital inflows in implementation of logistics projects.
He underlined that within the framework of the implementation of tasks in this direction, it is planned to hold an international conference on “Strategic perspectives and unrealized opportunities in the system of international transport routes of Central Asia”.
