Residents of Ukchi and Olmazor mahallas to receive apartments in new houses

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Residents of Ukchi and Olmazor mahallas, house of who are demolished in connection with the construction of the international business center “Tashkent City” will receive apartments in new houses, the press service of the khokimiyat of Tashkent said.
In 2016, the leadership of Uzbekistan made a decision to build an international business center “Tashkent City” in Tashkent. The cost of the project is over US$1 billion. The project will be financed due to resources of the business entities and commercial banks.
The special group was created to study on owners of houses and their residents in Ukchi and Olmazor mahallas (neighborhoods).
According to the results of study, it was established that there are 521 residential houses in these two mahallas and some 2,165 families are registered. About 1,138 families are living in these houses.
For resettlement of permanently residing families from the demolition zone, Tashkent City Administration received land areas in Yashnabad district of Tashkent for construction of 21 multi-storey apartment building comprising 1,155 apartments. The houses will be constructed by May-June 2018.
At the same time, the residents were offered 11.2 million soums to each family to cover their expenses for renting temporary habitation.
Some families were offered habitation in the secondary market at the price equal to their houses.
As of 22 December 2017, 96 families expressed their desire (written consent) to receive cash compensation for temporary residence in other districts of Tashkent until the completion of new multi-apartment buildings.
Another 75 families received cash compensation for temporary residence (rent) in the amount of 11.2 million soums per family and 9 families, at their request, will receive the apartments from the secondary market.
At the same time, 35 families were actually resettled. Nine houses were demolished completely and 6 housing estates were demolished partially.
Tashkent city administration said that residential houses are demolished after permanently residing families are resettled.
It added that issues of resettlement of 1,027 families, who were not living in the above-mentioned mahallas, will be solved in line with set legislation by the special commission.
