Uzbekenergo pays US$143 million debt to Kazakhstan for electricity

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo (Uzbek Energy) repaid debt for electricity for US$143 million to Kazakhstan, the Kazakh energy company KEGOC said in a statement.
Uzbekenergo made full repayment of its debt to KEGOC for supplies of electricity and services for regulation of capacities in the period from 2011 to 2017, the statement said.
The company added that Kazakhstan continuously supplied electricity during these years to Uzbekistan despite non-payment of its debt to ensure reliable operation of the Unified Electric Power Systems of the two countries.
The interaction between KEGOC and Uzbekenergo reached a new qualitative level, Kazakh company said.
In the future, KEGOC intends to continue deepening cooperation with Uzbekenergo, including on issues of ensuring the reliability of parallel work taking into account the world trends in the development of energy systems.
