Single number for emergency services to be introduced in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A pilot project on introduction of a single phone number for emergency services system will be implemented in Samarkand in 2018.
The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On organization of a system for calling to emergency services at a single number 112 in Samarkand city”.
The system will be realized within the framework of “Safe City” project. At the same time, population can use alternative telephone numbers for emergency services.
The new system will ensure close interaction on exchange of information between the dispatch and dispatch departments of the emergency services of Samarkand city.
The system will unite the units of the fire safety service, internal affairs agencies, ambulance service, emergency service of the gas network and rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The Government of Uzbekistan ordered to establish a single dispatching service in Samarkand in the form of a branch of the Center for Information Security and Assistance in Ensuring Public Order of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications.
According to the document, the test launch of the 112 system is scheduled for 1 October 2018. Based on the analysis of its work in Samarkand, proposals for extension of the project to other regions of Uzbekistan will be considered in 2019.
