Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A business forum was held in Tashkent on 9 November within the visit of the delegation headed by the governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko.
Representatives of about 50 companies of St. Petersburg took part in the business forum. Business people from Russia were provided with information on reforms aimed at developing small business and private entrepreneurship, liberalizing and modernizing the economy.
Participants discussed the possibilities of industrial zones, the development of joint projects.
Within the framework of the forum with the Department of Social Nutrition of the Government of St. Petersburg, agreements were reached for US$2 million for the supply of vegetables and fruits, as well as dried fruits and melons.
Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko held a meeting with the khokim of Tashkent city Rahmonbek Usmanov.
The sides exchanged views on effective use of available opportunities in the development and implementation of mutually beneficial and promising projects between the regions.
Georgy Poltavchenko said that his colleagues from the government of Uzbekistan and Tashkent hokim Rahmonbek Usmanov came out with the idea to open the Trade House of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg.
“Manufacturers are faced with the problem - under the brand of Uzbek goods, especially with regard to natural fabrics - silk, cotton - counterfeit is sold. The same applies to fruit and vegetable products. The Uzbek partners offered to supply exclusively high-quality 100% Uzbek goods to St. Petersburg within the framework of the Trade House. We have listened to these proposals with interest and will support,” Georgy Poltavchenko said.
As a result of negotiations between Tashkent city administration and the government of St. Petersburg, agreements were concluded on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.
