Helena Fraser becomes UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Helena Fraser was appointed to the post of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan.
Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received Helena Fraser.
According to the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the new UN Resident Coordinator handed a letter of the UN Secretary General António Guterres to the Uzbek Foreign Minister on her appointment to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Abdulaziz Kamilov and Helena Fraser discussed the state and prospects for development of bilateral relations.
It was noted that the visit of UN Secretary General António Guterres and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein to Uzbekistan, as well as their fruitful talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, indicate the strengthening of the UN’s attention to Uzbekistan and Central Asia region in general.
Uzbek Foreign Minister handed over a draft Plan on further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN for 2017-2020 ("Road map") to Helena Fraser for consideration. The Uzbek side gave explanations on its main provisions.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on selected global and regional issues, including the agenda of the forthcoming international conferences in Uzbekistan, which will be held under the aegis of the United Nations.
Helena Fraser replaced Stefan Prisner at the post of the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.
