EDF to develop feasibility study of project on construction of TPP in Syrdarya region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The French company EDF won a tender for development of a feasibility study of the project on construction of 900 megawatts thermal power plant in Syrdarya region, the press service of Uzbekenergo (Uzbek Energy) said.
According to Uzbekenergo, EDF won a tender for selection of the consultant to develop a feasibility study of the project and basic design, as well as prepare tender documents for the construction of TPP on a turnkey basis for the project “Construction of a new thermal power plant consisting of two units of combined cycle 450 megawatts in Syrdarya region”.
Earlier it was reported that Uzbekenergo plans to build a new thermal power plant with a capacity of 900 megawatts in Syrdarya region in 2016-2018.
The project envisages construction of two combined-cycle plant (CCGT) units with the capacity of 450 megawatts each.
The preliminary cost of the project is US$910 million, including foreign loans for US$500 million.
Construction of new thermal power station will be constructed within the strategy of Uzbekenergo on development of electricity power industry in Uzbekistan for 2015-2019.
