Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 31,800 new small business entities were created in Uzbekistan in 2016, which grew by 18.1% year-on-year.
In January-December 2016, the share of small business in GDP was 56.9% versus 56.5% in January-December 2015, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said.
In January-December 2016, the small business entities utilized 19.963 trillion soums of investments (40.3% of total utilized investments), which grew by 22.9% year-on-year.
The business entities executed construction works worth 20.678 trillion soums (70.7% of total construction works), which rose by 15.6% year-on-year.
The sector produced industrial products for 50.021 trillion soums (45% of total industrial production) or rose by 16.2% year-on-year.
The small businesses produced (rendered) services worth 55.057 trillion soums (60.5% of total services) or rose by 15.7% year-on-year.
The sector formed 89.6% of total retail trade turnover, which made up 78.867 trillion soums (the growth by 17.7%).
The small businesses exported products (goods and services) for US$3.588 billion (28.6% of total exports), imported products (goods and services) for US$5.656 billion (46.7% of total imports).
The small enterprises ensured the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 8.2% (85.5% of total freight turnover) and passenger turnover – by 8.1% (92.2% of total passenger turnover).
They provided employment to 10.392 million persons (78.1% of total persons employed in the economy), including 8.212 million persons of the individual sector and 2.18 million persons of small enterprises and microfirms.
The number of persons engaged in the private sector of small business was 9.573 million or 92.1% of total employment in the sphere of small business.
