Preliminary results of national monitoring summed up

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Trade Unions Federation organized seminar “Preliminary results of National monitoring of child and forced labour”.
The seminar, which was held in Tashkent, was organized in cooperation with International Labour Organization (ILO).
Experts of ILO, members of territorial group of national monitoring, representatives of NGOs and others attended the seminar.
It was noted that the monitoring group changed the format of monitoring. The members of the group monitored child and forced labour, as well as created conditions for labour and rest, timely payment of earned money.
The separate assessment methodology was developed to study cotton harvesting campaign. Thirteen territorial groups conducted monitoring in the regions.
The group visited enterprises, organizations and institutions, farms, cotton fields in the region. They conducted interviews with 6,615 responsers.
The preliminary result of monitoring showed that transport, market, trade and service objects, drug stores and schools worked in normal mode. The average attendance of educational establishment was at the level of 93.8%.
It was noted that necessary conditions for work and rest of cotton pickers were created. They were provided with hot food, drinking water, etc.
Billboards, banners and posters on avoiding children and forced labour were installed across Uzbekistan. The flyers were disseminated among people.
The participants discussed the results of monitoring and considered further improvement of monitoring.
