Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 November 2016, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), an official agency responsible for the Korean government’s grant aid program, held a “2016 KOICA Fellowship Program Knowledge Sharing Workshop” at Lotte City Hotel Tashkent Palace.
Approximately 100 people participated in the workshop, including Kwon Yong Woo, Ambassador of Korea to Uzbekistan, and high-level officials from the government of Uzbekistan such as Aziz Abdukhakimov, Minister of Labor of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Mannon Aliev, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration, as well as the graduates of the KOICA Fellowship Program.
KOICA has sought to support the sustainable socio-economic development of its partner countries by sharing Korea’s development experience and knowledge with the partner countries’ public officials, researchers, and students. This workshop was organized with the aim of sharing the results and future directions of the KOICA Fellowship Program and further promoting friendship among the graduates of the Fellowship Program.
The workshop began with the presentations by the graduates of the Fellowship Program, which provided an opportunity to share the results of the program and to examine the future directions and areas for improvement. The workshop was subsequently followed by the traditional Korean dance, string quartet performance, singing performance by Uzbek singers, Korean culture quiz, and raffles.
Through his congratulatory speech, Ambassador Kwon Yong Woo expressed his high regard for the outcomes of the KOICA Fellowship Program and asked the graduates of the Fellowship Program to provide continuous support in promoting amicable relations between Korea and Uzbekistan, while emphasizing the significance of human resource development in facilitating national development.
From 1992 to 2016, approximately 1,800 trainees from Uzbekistan participated in the Fellowship Program provided by KOICA, which has greatly contributed to the improvement of capacity to cope with the development challenges of Uzbekistan.
