Russian President to visit Samarkand on 6 September

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Russia Vladimir Putin will visit Samarkand on 6 September to pay tribute to the First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, Russian leader told journalists after G20 summit in Hangzhou (China) on Monday.
The First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov died at the age of 78 on 2 September after suffering a stroke. He was buried in Samarkand on 3 September. Putin could visit funeral ceremony due to his participation in G20 summit in China.
“I think, I will make stopover to bow down,” the Russian President Putin said. His aide Yuriy Ushakov said that Putin’s visit to Samarkand will be private.
Vladimir Putin said that Karimov did a lot for development of Uzbekistan as independent state. He noted that death of the president is great loss to the country. He said that he had good relations with Karimov.
Russian leader expressed hope that all, what was done by Islam Karimov in developing bilateral relations between Russia and Uzbekistan, will be kept and developed further.
Islam Karimov kept stability in the country and he ensured gradual development of Uzbekistan. He expressed hope that new leaders of Uzbekistan will keep the stability, which is important for gradual development of the country.
