Uzbekistan improves its position in Global Innovation Index

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan took the 122nd place in the Global Innovation Index among 141 countries of the world, a report “Global Innovation Index 2015”, dedicated to impact of innovations to economic growth and development, said.
The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2015 covers 141 economies around the world and uses 79 indicators across a range of themes. Thus GII 2015 presents with a rich dataset to identify and analyse global innovation trends.
Uzbekistan moved six positions up in new index compared to 2014 and now holds the 122nd place in global index.
In the ranking of Central and Southern Asia, Uzbekistan is on the 8th place. India (81st place in global ranking), Kazakhstan (82) and Sri Lanka topped the regional innovation index. Kyrgyzstan is on 109th place.
Among former Soviet states, Russia is on 48th place, Belarus – 53, Ukraine – 64 and Georgia – 73, the report said.
Switzerland, Great Britain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the USA were named as the leaders in innovation sphere.
