Uzbekistan to expand capacity of energy system by 3.44 gigawatt due to renewable energy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan can increase installed capacity of national energy system by 3.443 gigawatt due to introduction of renewable sources of energy.
According to the Strategy of low-carbon development of Uzbekistan, this will allow to produce 11.4 billion KWH of electricity and save 3.9 billion cubic meters of gas.
The strategy noted that the capacity of solar stations in Uzbekistan can reach 2 gigawatt by 2030, which will allow to produce 5 billion KWH of electricity.
Due to introduction of renewable energy, Uzbekistan can increase the capacity of hydro stations by 938 megawatt and produce additional 2.599 billion KWH of electricity. The capacity of biogas facilities by 2020 can make up 465 megawatt and ensure production of 3.72 billion KWH of electricity.
According to the strategy, the capacity of wind generators will make up 40 megawatt by 2030 and allow produce 0.08 billion KWH of electricity.
