LUKOIL to increase gas mining in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s LUKOIL is planning to increase natural gas production by four times to 16 billion cubic meters by 2018, the head of the company Vagit Alekperov said in interview to Russia-24 TV channel.
He said that LUKOIL is cooperating with Uzbekneftegaz in Uzbekistan. He noted that President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov gave a permission to develop new project on development and construction of Kandym gas field. He said that this is one of the largest opened gas fields in Uzbekistan.
Alekperov stated that the project will be completed in 2018. He said that LUKOIL launched several small fields and currently mines 4 billion cubic meters of gas in Uzbekistan.
LUKOIL chief said that the company plans to mine about 16 billion cubic meters of gas in Uzbekistan by 2018. He said that the Uzbek partners are exporting gas to China and all mined gas by LUKOIL is sold to Uzbekneftegaz and the Uzbek company uses gas on its own wish. He said that LUKOIL receives enough resources to carry out investment policy in Uzbekistan.
