Japan provides grants for US$1.23 million

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Japan provided no-string aid at the size of US$1.23 million to implement grass-root social projects.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Fumihiko Kato and representatives of Uzbekistan signed grant contracts on 18 March 2014, which were issued within a programme of no-string aid of the Government of Japan.
The programme provides no-string financial aid to non-governmental and non-commercial organizations, hospitals, schools and other organizations to help them to implement social projects.
The grants were issued to realize 13 projects. The grants will be directed to equip five general schools in Karakalpakstan, Samarkand region and Surkhandarya region.
The funds were also issued to Andijan regional cardiology clinic, Bukhara and Fergana regional diversified medical centers, Children’s Clinical Hospital No 5 of Tashkent Institute of Immunology under Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Maternity Hospital No 2 of Tashkent and regional medical associations named after Furqat in Fergana region. The grants will be used to purchase medical equipment.
At the same time, Altyarik district medical union received the grant to purchase of uninterruptible power system.
Within the no-string aid of grass-root social projects, some 328 projects have been implemented for US$21.017 million since 1995.
