Uzbek delegation attends BioAsia-2014 forum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan participated at international pharmaceutical forum “BioAsia-2014”, which was held in Hyderabad, India, on 16-19 February 2014.
Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) organized the event, which was attended by delegations from Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Great Britain, Thailand, etc.
The delegation of Uzbekistan held negotiations with representatives of 10 Indian and foreign pharmaceutical companies. During the meetings, the sides considered investment climate for organization of productions of pharmaceutical products at special industrial zones Angren and Jizzakh, as well as supply of pharmaceutical products from India to Uzbekistan, registration of medicaments in Uzbekistan.
Indian companies expressed interest in expanding opportunities on realization of pharmaceutical products in Uzbekistan. The sides also considered creation of medicament productions in Uzbekistan, including in special industrial zones.
Sri Krishna Pharmaceuticals Limited, NATCO Pharma Ltd., Modi-Mundi Pharma Private Ltd., ALKEM LABORATORIES Ltd., GENPHARMA Private Ltd. and other companies expressed interest in organization of production of pharmaceutical products in Uzbekistan.
The Indian companies are planning to visit Uzbekistan to meet with local companies to discuss organization of joint capacities and hold talks with officials of Uzpharmsanoat, special industrial zones Angren and Jizzakh. The Indian companies may also visit an exhibition APTEKA EXPO CENTRAL ASIA-2014, which will be held in Tashkent on 9-11 April 2014.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also held negotiations with the Director-General of Pharmexcil Venkat Appaji. The sides considered establishing of cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Pharmexcil in organization of business forums and visit of the business circles to Uzbekistan and India.
Appaji proposed to implement joint investment projects in Uzbekistan in participation of the Indian companies. Indian side offered to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and reflect issues of cooperation in investment sector.
Within the forum, the Uzbek delegation met with permanent secretary of China Medical City in Taizhou (China) Lee Chunyun. The sides considered issues of cooperation with China Medical City and Uzbek companies.
China Medical City is the largest cluster in medicine and pharmaceutical industry in China and it has national industrial zone.
The Chinese side expressed interest in sharing its experience with the Uzbek side on creating and developing medical cluster.
Lee Chunyun offered to organized study visits of the Uzbek organizations to the cluster in China and organization of similar clusters in Uzbekistan.
