Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Germany’s MAN Truck and Bus AG is interested in a project on organization of production of city and intercity buses in Uzbekistan, vice president of MAN Truck and Bus AG Kai Reichert stated.
In interview to Jahon news agency Kai Reichert said that the company is interested in the project on organization of production of city and intercity buses in Uzbekistan.
He said that management of MAN Truck and Bus AG supports idea on further development of automobile industry of Uzbekistan, he said.
Currently, JV MAN Auto Uzbekistan, founded by MAN Truck & Bus and Uzavtosanoat in 2013, produced commercial trucks. He said that the production volume rose from 300 to 1,800 units of trucks of various modifications.
MAN Truck & Bus AG, a subdivision of the MAN group, and Uzavtoprom set up the joint venture in the summer of 2009. The Uzbek side holds 51% stake in the venture and the German side - 49%.
From September 2010 the joint venture has been assembling trucks at SamAuto. The joint venture opened a dealership and service center in Samarkand region in 2011 and an assembly plant with the capacity to produce 6,000 MAN trucks and chassis a year with the cost of US$30 million was opened in 2012. The capacity of the venture can be increased to 10,000 a year.
